3 best video editing software

From , on April 1, 2021

The best video editing software can make even the average videos look like a Hollywood work. Okay, that was a bit of exaggeration.

My top 3 recommended video editors

  1. Movavi Video Suite
  2. Screencast-O-Matic
  3. Adobe Pr

But fact is videos rule:

  • 500 hours of video content is uploaded over YouTube every minute – Statista.
  • 70% of YouTube viewers say they bought a brand as a result of seeing it on YouTube. TWG
  • Digital streaming platforms now reach 68% of Wi-Fi-enabled households – Comscore
  • Startups like Dollar Shave Club grew closer to their audience with videos (Ultimately, went for $1B).

Maybe you want to create and sell an online course, or maybe you want to launch a Youtube channel or even create a short film. You’ve recorded your videos and now you want to trim them or add special effects. And you need the best video editing software.

Because good videos separate you from the rest.

Unfortunately, according to one estimate, there’re more than 100,000 multimedia software companies out there. Some of them cost thousands of dollars. How would you choose the best video editing software to buy?

Here I’ll review and rank the services I have come across.

This is probably the simplest video editing software. And my preferred tool when it comes to delivering mentoring or personalized videos. I can create videos quickly and upload them on their site and be done with it.

  • Record webcam, screen, or both
  • Easily edit the videos
  • Works with both Mac and Windows
  • Free stock library of videos, images, and music
  • Video hosting. 100GB Bandwidth for your viewers (from Amazon AWS). I use it to deliver premium content.
  • Unlimited online storage (for backups)
  • Direct upload to YouTube, Google Drive, or Vimeo
  • Probably the best tool for online teaching.

What are the disadvantages?

  • The green screen filter isn’t the best.
  • “Create Captions” is a pain in the arse.
  • The finished videos are of slightly lower quality.
  • A barely functional app.

Free video editing software

Frankly, I’ve never used any free software. If you don’t have the budget or want to try them first then I’ve found three options. You’ll be able to do basic trimming and splitting.

  • VideoPad
  • Built-in Windows Movie Maker
  • Built-in Apple iMovie.

Things to keep in mind

  • Check before you proceed

Check the tech specification for each software before deciding. Use the trial version first and check if the software works well on your machine without heating it too much.

  • Check with coworkers

Maybe you love Mac but what if you’ve got a PC lover in your office? Select the software which works for everyone.

  • Avoid lifetime deals or new flashy online video editing software.

Bugs and tech issues are common with the cheap stuff. It takes ages to upload a video on those platforms and almost everything is premium. So I’d not recommend any online software.

  • Never break copyright laws

If you’re a business then don’t risk using images or videos without paying for them. When in doubt, don’t risk being sued. Companies like Getty are known for suing businesses for using their stuff without a license.

The best video editing software – that’s a wrap.

As you’ve seen there are plenty of options available to create video content for your brand. I’ve listed the tools which are not going to break the bank. For the above reasons, I recommend Movavi Video Suite and Screencast-O-Matic.

If you’ve any questions, drop them in the comments.
